In 2013, Harbour’s Edge was again given the Gold Seal Award from the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care, a distinction that stays with the community for two years. Less than three percent of licensed senior care providers in Florida carry the Gold Seal. Statewide, only 19 out of 678 providers received the honor, and Harbour’s Edge is one of only two in Palm Beach County.
The Gold Seal Program recognizes providers that demonstrate excellence in long-term care over a sustained period, promote the stability of the industry, and facilitate the physical, social and emotional well-being of skilled nursing residents.
“As anyone in this field knows, it’s a rigorous process to go through,” says Tom Smith, executive director of Harbour’s Edge. “I’m pleased that our team has confirmed the culture of excellence we maintain here at Harbour’s Edge.”
The award is part of a ranking system created by the state of Florida in 2000 as a way for consumers to rank care quality of skilled nursing providers.
“The Gold Seal sets us apart from everyone else,” says Jennifer Stevens, Health Center administrator at Harbour’s Edge. “It’s unequivocally the highest honor you can receive. While it makes us proud, we’re even happier about what it means for the people we serve.”
The Gold Seal Award is based on criteria that includes excellent inspection reports, low employee turnover, high satisfaction ratings from residents and their families, and fiscal clarity.
